Bonjour !

Did you know oils could be  COMEDOGENIC ? :-(

Some oils used in skin care products, have a tendency to clog pores, promote blackheads, pimples, and cyst…

No Worries some are still great, you just need to learn more about them

Here are 3 tips to figure out if your oil in your skin care product is comedogenic.

  • Comedogenicity index (see table bellow)
  • Freshness
  • tendency to oxydize (a rancid oil will no matter what be comedogenic)

Tip : To protect your oil from oxidation, add 0,5 to  1 % of an antioxidant such as Vitamin E or rosemary extract. This will prolong your oil shelf life from 6 months to a year.

The comedogenicity index goes from 1 to 5:

0 : NOT COMEDOGENIC

1 & 2 : LOW COMEDOGENICITY

3 & 4: COMEDOGENIC

5: VERRY COMEDOGENIC

You now understand that if you have a tendency to acne you should avoid oils higher than 2.

Here are some oils we found comedogenic index for:
contains 60% oleic acid, 18% palmitoleic acid, 2.7% linoleic acid, 3% omega-3 and omega-6
